As if we didn’t have enough reasons to visit beautiful Bruton we are now lucky enough to be on the doorstep of newly opened The Newt in Somerset – a 300 acre estate to mirror the world-renowned Babylonstoren in South Africa.
This recently launched project is situated between us and the neighbouring town of Castle Cary and is just a short ten minute drive from Oak House bed and breakfast. With a staggered opening before the advancement of their country house later in the year, you can now head over to explore the extensive woods and gardens.
Well known to all residents of Bruton – the estate was once the seat of the Hobhouse family for more than two centuries. Now the doors are open to the public once again for a thoroughly Somerset experience.
Take a ramble through the gardens and visit the restaurant and farm shop for something tasty. With a state of the art cider press and a selection of routed walks could there be a more perfect way to spend a day in the countryside? We can’t wait to see the rest of the project as more areas of the estate unfold.
So book Oak House for a mid-week break or weekend adventure in Bruton and stay in style in our contemporary accommodation! There’s so much to see!
